reminders......

Under Pres. Bush - love him or hate him - tax cuts were passed that affected most Americans, rich & poor. HOWEVER they were only passed as 'temporary' by the congress. The expiration of those tax cuts is in 2010. Now, under those tax cuts the government actually brought in MORE money because more people a)could afford to pay & b)were willing to pay without going through all kinds of hoops to 'hide' money. This is fact. IRS fact. The Heritage Foundation fact.

Here are a few FACTS you need to keep in mind if these tax cuts expire:

  • $1,480: The average cost in 2000 for couples punished by the Marriage Penalty
  • $1,716: The average tax increase for over 100 million Americans
  • $2,034: The average tax increase that will hit 17 million seniors
  • $3,637: The tax hike, on average, that 26 million small business owners will be facing
  • $8.3 Million: The number of jobs created after the tax cuts of 2003
  • 44 Million: The number of married couples affected by the Marriage Penalty before it was reduced by Pres. Bush. These families will be hit hard once again if the Marriage Penalty is reinstated
  • $17.2 Billion: The amount spent in 2008 by Congress on frivolous "pork" projects that use taxpayer funds to reward local special interests & pressure groups
  • $91 Billion: The cost of reinstating the Death Tax
  • $2.4 Trillion: The overall tax increase faced by American families, seniors, & businesses
Nice to know that the current prez won't have to "increase taxes on 95%" of Americans. Oh, wait, that's being explored now too. On top of the TAX INCREASES listed above by the expiration of tax cuts under Bush.

Around & around & around & around the politics goes.....where it stops.....nobody knows.....

Be sure to get a clear answer from your congressional reps on the expiration of tax cuts & how will THAT raise your taxes AND while you are at it, ask about raising taxes for every American to pay the bills they have run up in just the past 6 months.

And altho the congress does NOT understand this, let me again try to make it clear:
  • this is not a 'race' issue
  • this is not a 'political party' issue
  • this is not a 'class' issue
  • this is not a 'wage' issue
  • this is not an 'area of the country' issue
  • this is not a 'religious' issue
  • this is not an 'organized _______' issue (fill in any of the names questioners are being called; fill in any of the ugly, nasty, rude & tacky labels Democrats are assigning to those showing up at meetings just to ask questions. I mean, really, who do we think we are? Your bosses or something? That you work for us? Perish the thought.)
Until Congress can finally understand the depth of anger we hold against them for their betrayals, they will never understand what is going on with the meetings, the TEA parties, the questions, the frustrations.
